More than 6,000 residents enjoy living in the Conway/Belle Isle area for its pristine lakes, prime location, accessibility to the city, while still having its own privacy. The area was first settled by the Timucua people in the 9th century. The first organized government of Belle Isle was established in 1924, with C. H. Hoffner, who was the community’s first mayor. Since 2003, the Conway/Belle Isle area has been run under a council-manager government, with the mayor being a ceremonial position. The residents take part in local activities and truly care about their community.
