Altamonte Springs is a thriving suburban city in Seminole County, Florida, which had a population of over 41,000 people and is expanding steadily. The city is north of the Orlando Metropolitan area. Dr. Washington Kilmer was the first person to settle into the area in 1870. He named the area Altamont (minus the “e” from the current spelling) after Altamont, New York, an area near where he was raised. In 1882, the Altamonte Land, Hotel, and Navigation Company, founded by Thomas C. Simpson gave the area its present name. The city is home is lush parks like Crane’s Roost, which attracts people from neighboring towns. The cities mall has been thriving for years and offers great deals and retail establishments. Altamonte Spring’s Audubon Center for Birds of Prey offers people a one on one experience with endangered and threatening wildlife. Parents will also enjoy the family friendly activities in the city, life go karting and small indoor entertainment centers. Altamonte Springs has something for everyone
