Sanford is a city in the central region of Florida and is in Seminole County with a population of a little over 53,000. Conveniently located about halfway between the attractions of Orlando and Daytona Beach, Sanford is a gem in Florida! Known for its “Historic Waterfront Gateway City,” Sanford sits on the southern shore of Lake Monroe, a major connection to the St. Johns River. Native Americans first settled in the area thousands of years before the city was formed and many of the relics of that time still exist in local museums and public areas. Sanford is also home to the respected Seminole State College of Florida. Sanford residents enjoy going to the Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Its historic downtown area attracts tourists with shops, restaurants, a marina, and a lakefront walking trail. The Orlando Sanford International Airport is a commercial airport for international and domestic carriers in the Orlando metropolitan area.
